Return & refunds

Crowdfunding & pre-sales

Under applicable law, crowdfunding is to be considered a donation until production has been set up and the unique product ordered is delivered.
By pre-ordering through Indiegogo (crowdfunding platform) and purchases clearly defined as unique pre-ordering on (our own website), we claim our right to keep a 15%  re-stocking fee of the purchase amount. This covers our expenses for platform fee, payment fee, and costs related to the pre-production of the unique pre-ordered product.

Due to pre-orders and crowd-funding investments, our bikes are not subjected to immediate refunds as the money has been invested in the production.
This cooling-off period expires 14 days after the day on which you received your goods.

As pre-order through our website and Indiegogo is considered a reward-based crowdfunding donation, you are subjected to all the regular rules in the European consumer law. Still, we keep the rights to collect the sum when ordering, as we use the financials to benefit you with better pricing and faster delivery, putting the money into our products and delivering faster than otherwise possible.

Freight and shipping

We offer freight through FedEx, TNT, or GLS depending on your country and size of the package. The rate starts at 7 EURO.

US model 32 km/h

Please be aware our US model up to 32 km/h is not street legal in the EU.

The law says you can only ride our EU model 25 km/h legally, due to the following regislations:

Ebkes in the EU: 

The wattage of the motor can only be 250 watt.

The bike assist can only take you up to 25 km/h

Speeder/throttle can only be applied as a walking assist (Up to 6 km/h)

It is anyhow legal to use it on privat compounds, factories or where the traffic law don’t apply.

STRØM bikes take no legal responsibility on ebikes purchased and used above the law.

What’s the warranty?

2 years electronic warranty & 5 years frame warranty world-wide.

You have 2 years warranty on the bikes and we cover all technical errors and mistakes under our responsibility, and send you new parts if testing proves something wrong with the components.

All maintenance and repair is supported with video tutorials, that you can either use yourself, or show your local bike mechanic. The bike is made so all parts are very easily replaceable.

Rights to make complaints

When you trade with us as a consumer, the Danish Sale of Goods Act applies.

This means that you have a right to complain within 24 months. Please contact us before you return the article.

If your complaint is justified, it means that you may either have the item repaired or replaced, or your money refunded, or a reduction in the price, depending on the specific situation.

You must complain within a “reasonable time” after you have discovered a defect. If you complain within 14 days of receiving the goods, it will always be considered to be within a reasonable time.

If the complaint is justified, we will refund your freight costs (within reason). The article must always be returned in suitable packaging. Remember also to obtain a receipt for dispatch, so that we can pay back your freight costs. See more below under ‘Returning the goods’.

Battery returns

For battery return we also hoste a 2 year waranty.

With the right to complain about the battery, we test the condition of the battery before repair or sending a new one in return.

The shipping cost of the battery is at the expense of the customers, as lithium batteries and similar, under applicable law, have to be shipped as ‘dangerous goods’.

Unfortunately, we are not able to control the risk and cost as we might end up loosing our shipping contract when not shipped by us.
When batteri is returned we will be able to return it as we have been trained in dangerouse goods.

OBS: The cost for battery check is 40 euros, as we do test and report on the battery.
This cost only apply if the battery is fully functional.

Cancellation rights

As a consumer, when you buy from us, you have a 14-day cooling-off period, in which you have the right to cancel the purchase.
This cooling-off period expires 14 days after the day on which you received your goods.
The period means that you have 14 days after receiving the goods to let us know that you want to cancel the purchase.
You cannot cancel the purchase by refusing to receive the goods unless you inform us at the same time.

Return of goods

When you have informed us that you are canceling your purchase, you have 14 days in which to return the goods to us.

You are responsible for returning the bike in original packageing, and you will be liable if it is damaged during transport and not packed the way you receive it.

When you receive one of our products please check the bikes carefully and report any damages to us.
If issues are reported before sending the products, you will not be liable for those damages.

Some goods cannot be returned by normal post. This applies to electric bikes

The cost of returning these goods is expected to amount to maximum of 1000 USD.

Requierd condition of returned goods

If the value of the article is opened and tested, and the reason is that you have used/inspected the bike will not be refunded in in regards to the agreed terms of return. The amount that can be refunded depends on the saleable value of the article, and in certain cases, this may mean that only the freight charges can be refunded.

We will come with a report of condition with the cost of bringing the bike back to a new and resalable condition including labor.

Cancellation process

If you cancel a purchase, you will get your money back. If the value of the article is reduced, we will deduct the amount you are liable for.

We refund the full payments received from you minus the 15% restocking fee, if we receive a writtin cancellation request within 14 days of reciving the bike or goods.

We will return the money by the same means of payment which you used for the purchase unless otherwise agreed.

We keep the rights to hold back the refunded amount until the bike or goods have been reported by our support staff.
